Can I hold a sloth or any other wildlife?
As a rescue center our first concern is the animals. Being handled by people can be very stressful for sloths and other wildlife, we want to minimize human contact with rescued wildlife. So while we do not allow you to hold wildlife, your experience will be personal and special.
Where are you located?
Toucan Rescue Ranch is located in San Josecito, San Isidro, Heredia. It is 20 minutes from the town of Heredia, 40 minutes from the SJO airport and 25 minutes from the Capital, San Jose.
Are you open to the general public?
No. Reservation REQUIRED. As a rescue center, we only allow access to people with a reservation for an Educational Walk or Ranch Experience. Please refer to the EDUCATIONAL WALKS or RANCH EXPERIENCE reservation pages to confirm visitation dates.
Should I bring water?
Yes bring water. We also sell water and provide water for all tours.

How long does it take to get to TRR from the SJO airport?
Approximately 40 minutes by car
What is the weather like?
TRR is located in the highlands, San Jose region at 4,500 feet. Green season is during the months of May – November. During this time we advise you to bring a sweater for nights, a rain jacket, and a flashlight. Layered clothing is best, especially during rainy season. Dry season is during December – April. You can expect warmer weather.
What if my flight leaves early in the morning?
If you are with us for the Ranch Experience we can arrange a taxi for early departures and we deliver a continental breakfast to your guesthouse the night before. Taxi prices to the airport are approximately $30. A van is approximately $35. You can also arrange an UBER.
Does TRR have free public Wi-Fi?
Yes. We have Wi-Fi access for all of guests. You can ask your tour guide for the name and password.
