Born and raised in Costa Rica, Andrea Quirós Vargas is the Tour Coordinator and a dedicated full-time guide at Toucan Rescue Ranch.
With a background in Management of Natural Resources from Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED) in Costa Rica, Andrea is finishing her bachelor’s degree with a thesis on captive wildlife management protocols.
She joined TRR as an on-call guide in October 2020 and is passionate about educating visitors on wildlife conservation, sharing animal stories, and detailing species biology and threats.
Andrea’s commitment to wildlife extends beyond TRR. She has volunteered with Gente y Fauna, aiding in coexistence projects between wild cats and rural communities, and has been an active member of the Ecological Restoration Network since 2016.
She also served as both Secretary and President of the Student Association of Management of Natural Resources. An avid learner and wildlife enthusiast, Andrea enjoys exploring the interactions between mammals, birds, insects, and their environments.
